
An organisation that researches marine life has warned the steady influx of beachgoers may be attracting sharks.
The Save Our Seas Association was reacting to news of a man who was killed by a shark in Glentana Bay at George over the weekend.
Twenty two-year-old Gerhard van Zyl's right leg was bitten off just above the knee.
Shark expert Alison Kock said there were possible explanations for the attack.
"It's probably related to more people using the waters and this is a global phenomenon that we've seen more shark attacks as more people use the waters."
